Scott Harper named Barren County Schools’ assistant superintendent of instruction

Scott Harper has been named Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for Barren County Schools. As such, Mr. Harper will oversee and coordinate district-wide instructional services, programs for assessment, gifted & talented services, career & technical education, and new employee induction.

Harper began his career in public education in 1993, serving as a science teacher at Christian County Middle School. He also served as a guidance counselor (1997-1998) and Director of Assessment and Communications (1998-2003) for Christian County. From 2003 to 2005, he served as an assistant principal at Logan County High School, and in 2005, he became principal of Austin Tracy Elementary School, a position he held through 2011. He has been the Director of Instruction & Technology for Barren County Schools since 2012.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education from Murray State University in 1992 and his Master of Arts in Counseling in 1996. He also earned his administrative certifications for principal, supervisor of instruction, and superintendent from MSU.

Mr. Harper commented, “I am incredibly honored and humbled to serve Barren County Schools. I am thankful to have been able to spend the past 19 years working in this community and look forward to helping support the students, teachers, and administrators in strategic instructional programs for years to come.”

He is an innovative leader who has a vision for teaching and learning, and I know he will continue to advocate for teachers and students as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.”
