Barren County School District received the 2024 State Assessment and Accountability results for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The Accountability Indicators provide scores for Reading & Math; Science, Social Studies, and Writing; English Language Performance; and Quality of School Climate and Safety. In addition, the high school and district level results include the Postsecondary Readiness and Graduation Rate indicators.
At the elementary school level, Barren County Schools exceed the state average in the Science, Social Studies, and Writing Indicator, as well as the Quality of School Climate and Safety Indicator. The district exceeds the state at the middle school level in all indicators. At the high school level, the district averages exceed the state in all academic indicator areas in addition to the Transition Indicator and Graduation Indicator.
Hiseville Elementary attained the ” high ” status level in reading and math. Hiseville Elementary, North Jackson Elementary, Red Cross Elementary, and Barren County Middle School attained the status level of “high” or “very high” for science, social studies, and writing. Hiseville Elementary, North Jackson Elementary, Red Cross Elementary, and Barren County Middle attained the ” high ” status level for “Quality of School Climate & Safety.”
Barren County High School achieved a “very high” status level for their Postsecondary Indicator Rate and “high” for their graduation rate.
The Postsecondary Indicator Rate measures multiple career and college readiness factors, and the rate for Barren County High School of 103.4, earning the Blue Rating, reflects the district’s commitment to ensuring students are life-ready.
Superintendent Amy Irwin commented, “Our administrators and staff are committed to creating a culture where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and the Commonwealth’s test is one measure of our success. We celebrate the achievements and hard work of our students and those who serve them, and we will continue in our commitment to excellence.”
“As a district, we focus on continual improvement for all of our schools and students. While some of the measures have changed over the past few years in accountability, we measure the achievement and growth of our students and schools as one way to gauge our progress,” added Assistant Superintendent Scott Harper, who serves as the District Assessment Coordinator for Barren County Schools. He continued, “Our goal now is to support our district and school leadership in understanding and communicating the results of the assessments and accountability system. This will allow our staff and educational community to use this data, along with local data, to impact our improvement efforts.”

on the Kentucky Department of Education website.
