The Children’s Day charity, whose mission is “to care for the well-being and enhance the learning of the students served by Glasgow, Barren County, and Caverna…through the provision of basic need support, special needs items,” officially became a part of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation during a luncheon on Oct. 4.
Twelve years ago the idea of the Children’s Day charity came out of a series of conversation where Bharat Mody shared “his vision of being able to help the children of Barren County.”
“Out of those conversations [the] Children’s Day charity was born and through it thousands of children have been served through the family resource and youth services centers in local schools in Barren County,” T.J. Community Mission Foundation Executive Director Randy Burns said.
Burns expressed his excitement at “joining hands” with the charity saying the services of the charity will be continued and expanded under the foundation’s guidance.
Current Chair of the foundation Doug Landers joined Helena Chase Birdwell, current chair of Children’s Day, and Chair Emeritus Mody as the two of them signed a resolution transferring all funds to the foundation solely for use “in a manner that promotes and improves the quality of life for children in this region.”
Landers echoed Burn’s comments about his excitement for the future. Mody also spoke expressing his thanks to the foundation and exhorted those present to donate for the improvement of life for Barren Countians.
