Atmos Energy is helping its customers prepare for the winter season by allocating $4 million to energy assistance agencies across the eight states it serves.
Distributing these funds in partnership with various assistance agencies and nonprofit organizations will provide relief for Atmos Energy customers who need assistance paying their natural gas bills, past-due debt, deposits, and service charges.
“Some of our most vulnerable neighbors including the elderly, people with disabilities, veterans, families experiencing financial hardship, and others need additional funds to continue enjoying reliable and affordable natural gas throughout the year,” said Mark Martin, Atmos Energy vice-president of public affairs. “The goal of these dollars is to support our neighbors in need, an essential part of Atmos Energy’s Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities initiative. Partnering with a variety of energy assistance programs allows us the opportunity to provide our communities immediate and easy access to funding.”
Customers may locate an energy assistance agency by visiting atmosenergy.com/assistance/ or calling 211. Atmos Energy encourages customers needing solutions to keep up with their monthly natural gas expenses, or who need to reconnect their natural gas service, to contact Atmos Energy’s customer service team at 888.286.6700 or visit the account center at Atmos Energy Account Center.
In Kentucky, Atmos Energy donated to the following agencies:
Owensboro Help Office
Paducah’s Family Service Society
Audubon Area Community Action Agency
Pennyrile Allied Community Services
West Kentucky Allied Services
Community Action of Southern KY
Salvation Army
Financial assistance may also be available from federal, state, and local programs. Atmos Energy and its customers bestow funds through the Sharing the Warmth program to our energy assistance agency partners, which provides financial support to pay for utility bills, home weatherization upgrades, and repair and replacement of customer-owned natural gas appliances and piping.
The federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program releases funds every winter to all states and territories to pay utility bills. Atmos Energy is also a member of the National Energy & Utility Affordability Coalition which is dedicated to heightening the awareness of the energy needs of income-constrained energy consumers.
