Parents, families, friends and the wider community will have a chance to see children from all three local school districts perform in the 12th annual Children’s Day Celebration while also raising money for a good cause on Nov. 14.
The annual talent showcase, which features a wide variety of musical performances from choir pieces to instrumental numbers, raises money — via the money earned through the $5 ticket sales — to benefit the three school district’s — Barren County, Glasgow and Caverna — Family Resource Youth Service Centers.
On Oct. 8 the Children’s Day charity became part of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation as Founder Bharat Mody and Chair Helena Chase Birdwell signed a resolution transferring all the charity’s funds over to the mission.
T.J. Community Mission Foundation Executive Director Randy Burns said the absorption of the charity under its umbrella, which features other charitable organizations such as Community Medical Care and Breaking Barriers to Care, opens the door to greatly expanding the charity’s reach.
Burns said the Children’s Day celebration will always be a staple of the program regardless of the evolution of the charity now that it’s part of the foundation and so will not change much. He said the board is still in the “analyzing” phase of their next project and that the charity would become more of a banner for “all future pediatric healthcare projects” the foundation does.
