The 46th annual “Turkey Trot,” hosted by Glasgow Parks and Recreation, takes place this Saturday, offering three races to suit all ages and skill levels.
Events kick off at 7:15 a.m. with a kids’ relay, followed by a 1-mile fun run at 7:45 a.m. The main event, a 5-mile race beginning at 8:30 a.m., invites participants to race against the clock — and the iconic mascot Turkey Tom — for a chance to win a Thanksgiving-themed grand prize.
Program coordinator David Curran encourages a strong turnout.
“It’s one of the oldest traditions in Glasgow, and we’d love to see more than 150 participants this year,” Curran said.
Curran noted that the 5-mile course offers a rewarding challenge, even for seasoned runners.
“We encourage participants to know what they’re getting into,” he said, adding with a laugh, “Turkey Tom isn’t as fast as he used to be, so this might be your year to beat him.”
All participants will be entered into a door prize drawing, with winners announced after the awards ceremony. Registration includes a commemorative T-shirt, available through glasgow.recdesk.com or the Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
Curran promises a smooth and enjoyable event for runners and spectators alike. “Our goal is to make it better and more efficient every year,” he said.
