At their most recent meeting, the Housing Authority of Glasgow commissioners voted to increase the authority’s rent assistance for one-bedroom apartments and entertained possible payroll increases.
At their Sept. 19 board meeting the commissioners approved the 2025 payment standards and set them at 110 percent of the fair market rent that the Department of Housing and Urban Development set for the housing choice voucher program.
Essentially, the authority’s payment standards sets the “maximum assistance” the authority will provide to people on the voucher program. HUD set the fair market rent for Barren County for a one-bedroom apartment at $665 and the authority previously approved up to $732 in assistance for those seeking such an apartment.
Sheri Lee, executive operations officer, said that with the price of rents increasing throughout the county, she suggested increasing the maximum to 112 percent, or $745.
That passed unanimously.
Lee also mentioned wanting to adjust the authority’s payroll to accommodate increased staff certification, increased turnover and additional responsibilities with a ceiling of one week’s payroll.
Other than reviewing their financials, which showed a balance of $3.15 million, the agenda was relatively light and they adjourned.
