Glasgow Middle School, Red Cross Elementary and South Green Elementary are included in the list of 2024-2025 grant recipients from the Tennessee Valley Authority, which provides electricity to the Glasgow Electric Board.

Glasgow Middle School received $5,000 for its Health Science Career Cluster, which prepares students for careers that promotes health, wellness and diagnosis, and treats injuries and diseases. Red Cross Elementary was awarded $1,500 to purchase three 3D printers and necessary accoutrement. South Green Elementary similarly received $5,000 for purchasing of 3D printers.

The TVA awarded $1.5 million in grants, in partnership with Bicentennial Volunteers Inc., “to educators to develop science, technology, engineering, and math education projects.”

“We know STEM teachers across the region are inspiring students to become the workforce of the future and that’s why it’s so important for TVA to continue to support this grant program,” said Jeff Lyash, TVA president and CEO. “Providing additional resources to schools helps provide essential hands-on learning programs that equip students with skills that will help them be successful in whatever they choose to do in life.”

The program received 647 grant applications this year, and 342 selected for funding, according to the release.
