The Barren County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a scam targeting Kentucky travelers.

On its social media page the office stated some people are receiving fraudulent text messages impersonating the RiverLink tolling service asking that customers pay their total due to avoid late fees.

“These messages claim to represent RiverLink and include a suspicious link,” the post stated. “Do not click on the link!”

RiverLink is a toll system based in Louisville and Southern Indiana that has tolling in place on the Abraham Lincoln Bridge, the John F. Kennedy Bridge and the Lewis and Clark Bridge, which as of Dec. 31, 2024 has collected $398.3 million for the commonwealth.

“If you suspect owing a toll, please contact RiverLink directly,” the sheriff’s office stated.
