At the inaugural 2025 meeting on Jan. 13, the members of the Glasgow Independent Schools Board of Education listened as each school’s principal presented their respective school’s needs and paths towards improvement, and heard about the district’s financial welfare.
The meeting opened with a fiscal year-end audit report presented by members of Campbell, Myers and Rutledge, who gave the district an overall “clean opinion,” which is the best one can attain.
The majority of the meeting, however, was dedicated to the district’s and individual school’s improvement plans and needs assessment, which were crafted in part from the results of the Kentucky Summative Assessment results that were discussed at the October 2024 meeting.
While specifics differed from school to school, all touched on the desire to increase distinguished scores in reading, writing, science and/or social studies.
The board members also went into closed session for discussion of acquisition of real property, which resulted in no action.
Mary Burchett-Bower was elected chair and Reggie Hayden became vice chair.
