Barren County State Representative Steve Riley was named as the chair of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education.

Members of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education oversee funding allocations and financial policies for Kentucky’s universities, community and technical colleges, and other workforce education programs.

“I’m excited about this new role,” Riley said. “Investing in higher education is critical to preparing our students for the future and the role they will play in the workforce, driving innovation, and shaping the future of the Commonwealth.”

State House of Representative Speaker David Osborne said he is pleased with the direction of the subcommittee under the leadership of Riley.

“Committees are the backbone of the legislative process, serving as the critical mechanism by which complex issues are studied, debated, and refined,” Osborne said. “They allow legislators to focus on specific areas of policy, and provide a dedicated environment for public input, enabling citizens, experts, and advocacy groups to have their voices heard in the policymaking process.”

Riley is also a member of the appropriations and revenue, families and children, health services, and primary and secondary education standing committees.
