A  fundraiser seeks to rebuild the legacy of long-standing musical instrument shop, and Barren County staple, Hatfield Banjos.

On Jan. 10, crews from the South Barren Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at 791 Burton Ridge Road — a dead-end road in the Rocky Hill community — which is the location of Hatfield Banjos. The shop was a total loss.

Arthur Hatfield was not injured, but, according to the fundraiser that was started days afterward, it “is a sad day for a lot of people in the banjo community.” Hatfield has been repairing and building banjos for roughly 30 years.

The fundraiser has a $50,000 goal and can be accessed here.
