Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday Jan. 20. Due to this several federal, state and local organizations have announced closures for that day.
The Glasgow City Hall — now renamed to the Luska Twyman Municipal Building — will be closed for the holiday, as will the city’s department of public works, which includes street, stormwater, sanitation and landfill departments. The city transit will run from 8:15 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. on an abbreviated schedule.
Administrative offices at the Glasgow Police Department will be closed and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The whole county government building will be closed. This includes the Barren County Judge-Executive’s office, the county clerk’s office and the sheriff’s office. The Barren County Courthouse is scheduled to be closed as well.
All public schools — Glasgow Independent, Barren County and Caverna Independent — will observe the holiday. The Electric Plant Board’s offices will be closed.
As one of the 11 holidays observed by the federal reserve, most banks will be closed as well. U.S. postal services will not deliver mail Jan. 20, and all federal and state offices will be closed.
Mammoth Cave National Park will be open and will waive entrance fees during the holiday.
