A fraud alert contract, discussions of amphitheater design costs and bid solicitation are key items listed on the Jan. 21 Barren County Fiscal Court’s three-page agenda.
The fraud alert contract, which the seven magistrates are set to approve, is between the county and Iowa-based Fidlar Technologies and will allow “subscribers the ability to have their personal/business name monitored in the Barren County [Clerk’s] Office in order to track possible fraudulent activity.” The contract states people can subscribe for free at the fraud alert website.
“Barren County agrees to participate in the…service by providing the index data required…and permitting the use of this information in order to monitor and identify…individuals’ identity only for the purpose of possible fraudulent activity,” the contract states. “Fidlar agrees not to retain subscriber’s information beyond time needed to perform [the] services unless required under another agreement.”
The contract agreement has a $10,000 deposit and a fixed three-year annual maintenance and support fee of $2,500 with 50 customized fraud alert posters and 750 flyers.

Magistrates are also scheduled to discuss design costs for the amphitheater that the county put out Request for Proposals at the December fiscal court meeting. Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd previously said the amphitheater would be a “partnership” between the county and Park City, which owns the 15.28 acres on which it is to be built.
The magistrates will also solicit bids for the agriculture exposition center. The approximately 70,000-square-foot structure is slated for construction in Cave City.
