Cave City man arrested on nearly 20 charges after brief pursuit

A Cave City man was arrested on numerous charges after refusing to stop and leading Kentucky State Police on a brief pursuit.

According to the state police press release, 44-year-old Bobby Wayne Johnson, of Cave City, was seen by troopers traveling on Ky. 90 in Glasgow without a visible registration plate. After an attempt to stop Johnson’s vehicle, the release states, he “refused to stop and began to flee.”

He was arrested and charged 17 offenses including attempted murder of a police officer after his vehicle attempted to ram one of the state police cruisers involved in the pursuit. No trooper was hurt in the encounter.

His other charges include: speeding 26 mph or greater, reckless driving, fleeing or evading police, attempted murder of a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI, driving DUI on a suspended license (third offense), first-degree trafficking controlled substance, failure to wear seatbelt, disregarding stop signs, no registration receipt, no registration plate and failure to maintain required insurance (first offense).

He is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center and has a $500,000 cash bond.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Tyler Walters.
