Caverna Independent Schools announced there will be no in person school for the rest of the week due to illness.
In a social media post, the school district stated they would use three of their ten Non-Traditional Instruction days for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Previously the district used two NTI days due to inclement weather.
Superintendent Amanda Abell confirmed the cancelations are primarily due to the staff rather than student illness.
“Student attendance is a bit better but we are struggling with illness [of] our staff,” Abell said.
The Kentucky Respiratory Disease Dashboard reports that there have been 475 reported influenza cases since the beginning of the year.
