The two individuals who allegedly assaulted a Barren County Sheriff’s deputy on Friday, Feb. 7, have been arrested, according to Barren County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Mike Houchens.

“[On Tuesday, Feb. 11] our office received a tip on a possible location of Aaron Wright and Melissa Netherton,” Houchens said in an email. “Deputies responded to Indian Mills Road in Park City and found the two walking near the end of the roadway. They were arrested without incident.”

Wright and Netherton, both 42 years old, were confronted by a sheriff’s deputy near the 2,000 block of Park City-Glasgow Road. According to initial reporting, while attempting to take Wright into custody on an active bench warrant on a felony case, an altercation took place and both Wright and Netherton assaulted the deputy. They then fled on foot.

A search of the area ensued “and arrest warrants [were] sought for both suspects,” the sheriff’s office stated.

According to Wright’s uniform citation, marijuana was found on his person, which he told deputies belonged to him

Netherton is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on charges of third-degree assault, third-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest. In addition to those three charges, Wright is also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
