Area high school students dominated the Show Choir competition at the recent state Beta convention in Lexington. Barren County captured the state title, with Glasgow finishing runner-up, according to official event results on the National Beta Club website.
Students from Barren County took top honors in the Solo, Duo, Trio – Dancer category, and also received the following first place finishes: Adeline Coleman, Agriscience 10th grade, Speech Division I and Recyclable Art Division I; Abigail Coleman, Agriscience 12th grade; Emmory Shelton, Best of Show Division I; Jaycee Bunch, Cake Decorating Division II; Elizabeth Hale, Quilling Division II; and Emmory Shelton, Sculpture Division I.
Glasgow students won the state title in Quiz Bowl, as well as the following first place awards: Mary Kate Vance, Creative Writing Division II; Chloe Ball, Drawing Division I and Onsite Drawing Division I; Diya Nair, Math 11th Grade; Olivia Wood, Poetry Division I; Rudra Chaudhary, U.S. History 12th Grade;
Barren County’s Emma Smith, Tinsley Neagle and Lillie Smith were also recognized as Premier Performers in Dancing, while Abby Carter and Kendall Esters were named Premier Performers in Singing.
Glasgow’s Logan South and Harrison Belcher were recognized as Premier Performers in Singing.
Students from Barren County took second place in Accessorized Design, Performing Arts Large Group and Living Literature and fifth place in Scrapbooking, as well as the following awards: Ethan Vincent, 2nd place, Creative Writing Division I; Faith Ann Campbell, 2nd place, Fiber Arts Division II; Emma Smith, second place, French 12th Grade; Lillie Smith, second place, Quilling Division I; Karden Kinslow, second place, Woodworking Division I; Tristan Brooks, second place, Sculpture Division II; Kaelin Burks, second place, Speech Division II; Abigail Mattingly, third place, Mixed Media Division I; Kolton Esters, fourth place, Health and Physical Education 9th Grade; Madyson Coots, fourth place, Language Arts 12th Grade; Faith Ann Campbell, fourth place, Poetry Division II; Liberty Phelps, fifth place, Language Arts 9th Grade.
Glasgow students also won fifth place in Apparel Design and the following individual awards: Avrie Thomas, second place, Speech Division I; Meghan Griffin, third place, Black & White Photography Division I; Harrison Belcher, third place, Math 12th Grade; Kasan Peters, third place, U.S. History 11th Grade; Ellie Ball, fourth place, Painting Division II; Danica Ingram, fourth place, Pottery Division II; Jacob West, fourth place, Science 9th Grade; Jacob Judd, fifth place, Agriscience 9th grade; Ashton Page, fifth place, Agriscience 11th Grade; Noelle Durbin, fifth place, French 10th Grade; Isaac Lopez, fifth place, Math 10th Grade; Audrey Crain, fifth place, Poetry Division II; Callaway Mackie, fifth place, Spelling 9th Grade; and Ian Parocai, fifth place, U.S. History 10th Grade.
