The Barren County Trojans popped off for nine runs in a 9-2 home win over Grayson County.
The Trojans spread the nine runs over five innings, and got solid pitching to seal the win. Barren took the lead for good in the bottom of the first inning after getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the first.
With one out, Sutton Hyde hit a triple to right field. Jordan Harris followed at the plate and was hit by a pitch to put runners at the corners. Axel Dysholm drove home Hyde with a sacrifice fly to right field. Harris ended up scoring on an error. He had stolen second to get into scoring position.
Barren iced the game by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Skylar Potter led off with a single, then moved to second when Jax Vincent followed and drew a walk. After an out, Hyde drove in Potter with a single. Harris followed, drew a walk, and loaded the bases. Dysholm drove in Hyde and Vincent with a single.
Hyde ended the game in the top of the seventh by striking out the Cougars’ final batter.
Hyde and Dysholm led at the plate, each with a pair of hits. Hyde also scored three runs. Vincent, Potter, Dysholm, Gavin Coffey, Aiden Keeney, and Jackson Reece each also had a hit.
Hyde, Jacob Spence, and Dylan Potter combined on the mound to give up three hits and strike out seven batters.
