Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd has declared a local state of emergency for the county due the present, and incoming, severe weather on April 3.
Among other things, this declaration states that the local emergency operation plan to be “fully executed” and allows Byrd to dispense with some formalities, like employment of temporary or permanent workers. On top of that, it makes the county eligible in the future for federal and state assistance in repairing the “substantial damage” incurred during severe weather.
Barren County’s declaration joins Governor Andy Beshear’s prior declaration of emergency.
