Three hundred sixty-four days after its groundbreaking, Med Center Health celebrated the opening of Glasgow’s new health care facility.

The Scottie Singers opened the ribbon-cutting ceremony with renditions of the Star Spangled Banner and My Old Kentucky Home followed by Executive Vice President Wade Stone, who said this building will feature primary care, specialty care and be an “outpatient diagnostic imaging center, which will offer radiology, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine CT and MRIs.”

His brief remarks and recognitions were followed by Glasgow Administrator and community resident Laura Belcher. She said Med Center Health received over 34,750 outpatient visits from people in Barren County in 2024 and over 1,000 inpatient visits.

“Locally, as we look at our services and what we offer, we found that so many people from Barren County…were journeying to Bowling Green,” Belcher said. “We have significant [amounts] of people from the community making the journey and we will make the journey now to you.”

“You no longer have to burn up I-65 to come to us, we will for you,” she added.

Afterwards, the attendees were invited to tour the new building, which will be open to the public on April 28.

Located at 401 S. L. Rogers Wells Blvd., members from Med Center Health, Barren Inc. and Scott, Murphy and Daniel broke ground on the 22,000 square foot facility on April 25, 2024.
