Glasgow, Cave City police announce May traffic checkpoints

As is typical of each new month, the Glasgow and Cave City police departments announced May’s traffic safety checkpoints.

“Traffic Safety Checkpoints are a valuable tool used to promote the safety and well-being of the public as well as providing police with visibility and interaction within the community,” a Glasgow police press release stated. “Checkpoints are utilized throughout the Commonwealth to help promote highway safety.”

Glasgow police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints from May 2 through the end of the month at Columbia Avenue, West Main Street, North Jackson Hwy. and Happy Valley Road. The checkpoints are not limited to those locations, the press release stated.

Cave City police stated their traffic checkpoints begin today, May 1, and go until May 31. The checkpoints will also be between the hours of 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Cave City’s checkpoint locations are:

– 400 Block of Mammoth Cave Street
– 800 Block of Mammoth Cave Road
– Old Lexington Road and Cemetery Road
– Grinstead Mill Road and Blair Road
– Happy Valley Road and Estes Road
– Old Horse Cave Road and Hart County Line
– 400 Block of North Dixie Highway
– Louisville Road and Happy Valley Road
– Mammoth Cave Road and I-65 Interchange

During the Safety Checkpoints, Officers will be enforcing laws related to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs, licensing of motor vehicles and operators, registration and insurance, seat belt and child restraint and motor vehicle equipment violations.
