The Caverna boys’ basketball coach who resigned Friday morning has been arrested by Horse Cave police.

Terrence Miles, 37, resigned as coach and teacher at Caverna High School on Friday morning, then was arrested later in the day and lodged in Hart County Jail.

He is charged with first-degree criminal abuse, second-degree wanton endangerment, and first-degree official misconduct.

Miles was a special education teacher and finished his first season as the Colonels’ basketball coach in March.

His initial court appearance is scheduled for May 5 at 8:30 a.m.

His arrest comes after he resigned from both positions due to a video that was shared on social media.

“Following a thorough review and interviews with all witnesses involved, I met with the teacher this morning to terminate his employment,” District Superintendent Amanda Abell stated in an email to Glasgow News 1 on Friday. “At the start of the meeting, the teacher submitted his resignation.”

She stated that both students in the video have been “disciplined in accordance with school policy.”

In the typed resignation letter signed by Miles, he stated he enjoyed his time with the school district and apologized for casting a “bad light” on the district.

“I sincerely regret my lapse in judgement and believe that it is in the best interest of all concerned that I resign my positions with the district as both teach and basketball coach, effective immediately,” the letter states.
