Mr. Douglas McPherson

Mr. Douglas McPherson, age 84, of Glasgow, Kentucky and formerly of Monroe County, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow, Kentucky surrounded by his family. Doug was born on April 27, 1941, in Mt. Hermon, Kentucky, a son of the late Warren Denton and Nina Ruth (Jones) McPherson. He was a 1959 graduate of Tompkinsville High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University. Doug was a charter member of The Mammoth Cave Livestock Market, one of the Founders of Mud Lick Church of Christ West and later became a member of the Flippin Church of Christ. He served on The Monroe County ASCS committee for several years. Doug and his wife Rebekah purchased land in the Flippin Community in 1963 and began farming by building and operating Crestview Dairy Farm. He operated the dairy from 1965 until 2006. Later, along with his family, Doug built Highland Ridge Assisted Living in Glasgow, Kentucky which they continue to own and operate. He served as the Executive Director from 2002 until his retirement in 2016.

He is survived by his three children: Shawn McPherson and wife Susan, of Scottsville, Shane McPherson and wife Shaun of Tompkinsville, and Shara Page and husband Chris of Glasgow. Ten Grandchildren, Shawna Rohling and husband Corey, Samantha McPherson, Shelby Tade and husband Jake, Sally McPherson and fiancé Will Howard, Chandler McPherson and wife Ashton, Cade McPherson and fiancée Kelsie Langford, Chesney McPherson, Garrison Page and wife Hailey, Acey Page and Ashton Page. Four great-grandchildren, Easton Tade, Maddie Tade to be born this year, Quinton Rohling, Wyatt Rohling, and Hagan McPherson, and the mother of his children, Rebekah Hagan McPherson, also survives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet McPherson Hodges and her husband Gary, and the brother he never had, Terrell McPherson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in the White Cemetery in Sulphur Lick. Mark Finn will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, at South Green Street Church of Christ, in Glasgow from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Cemetery, or Shanti Niketan Hospice House. Those may be made at the funeral home.
