The Barren County Fiscal Court magistrates approved seeking bids on the low water ford on Old Davidson Road, southwest of Glasgow on the west side of the Cumberland Parkway.
Water got between the road tiles necessitating its repair, Barren County Road Supervisor Susan Gibson said at the April 6 fiscal court meeting. County emergency management director Garland Gilliam confirmed the road is still open.
“After the last storm, it had some other areas washed away,” Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd said.
“Waters gotten in between the two tiles there and some of the rock…has washed [away],” Gibson added.
Byrd said the ford has needed repairs in the past and that the money for the repairs are provided through the state, commonly referred to as the 80/20 fund.
Byrd said there is $49,840 in the 80/20 fund.
