The Glasgow Independent School District is selling the Happy Valley Elementary School building and its surrounding property for $500,000.

District Superintendent Chad Muhlenkamp said the Kentucky Department of Education had evaluated the property’s appraisal and deemed the $500,000 offer in line with “fair market value.”

Muhlenkamp said K and M Services was the company buying the property.

On Feb. 26, Barret Lessenberry made a motion during a special-called board of education meeting to “authorize [Muhlenkamp] to execute all closing documents” pertaining to the sale of Happy Valley school stipulating that “the appraisal of the property meets the approval of [the education department] and that the sale of the property is ‘as is.'”

With the completion of the new South Green Elementary, the preschool has moved into the old part of the elementary school, which left the Happy Valley building empty.
