A child who was injured in a two-vehicle crash in May has died. A Glasgow man involved in the crash has been arrested and charged with assault and wanton endangerment.
Cory Bowles and a “male juvenile passenger in Bowles’ vehicle” were both taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital along with Mindy Bowles, who was later airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital, according to a state police press release. A female juvenile passenger in the Bowles’ vehicle, who was later identified as Kinsli Bowles, was airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital after the crash in May and died on July 5 at the hospital due to her injuries.
The fatal crash occurred on May 30, at the 59-mile marker of southbound Interstate 65. Kentucky State Police troopers arrived at the scene of the crash “just before 7 p.m.”
A state police preliminary investigation “indicates that a 2014 Ford Focus, operated by 23-year-old Dru Smith of Glasgow, was parked along the side of the roadway [when a] 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by 31-year-old Cory Bowles, also of Glasgow, was traveling southbound when it veered off the roadway and collided with Smith’s parked vehicle,” according to the state police.
Smith was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Cory Bowles is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Detective Bo Hubbard.
