Both Beechtree Lane and Matthews Mill Road are getting funds from the commonwealth.
The seven Barren County magistrates are scheduled to meet on July 15 at 9 a.m. in the Barren County Fiscal Court chambers. One of the agenda items up for discussion is the approval of a resolution and memorandum of agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for $425,000.
Barren County Road Department Supervisor Jamie DeGroft said the plan is to widen a four-tenths-of-a-mile portion of the road to 20 feet with one-foot shoulders on either side. Previously, road crews had cleared trees in advance of the widening. DeGroft has stated in the past that the county would wait on paving until they had received this state funding.
Beechtree Lane is south of Glasgow and connects Roseville Road to Oil Well Road.
The other road mentioned in the agreement is Matthews Mill Road, which intersects with Scottsville Road in the Haywood area. The agreement states the county wants to resurface 1.566 miles of the road “from mile point 4.247 extending southwesterly to Tobacco Road.” The county transportation committee recommended seeking bids on July 14.
