Loy Richard Milam

Loy Richard Milam, 74, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Wednesday, July 30th, surrounded by his family at his home.

Loy was born in Lubbock, TX on December 23, 1950, a son of the late Loy Edgar Milam and Alphina Jo (Chambers).

Loy married Rayna Hammer on February 10, 1979 at the Celina, TN Courthouse.

Loy had an incredible zest for life and threw himself into everything he did with unmatched enthusiasm. Whether it was quilting, metal detecting, scuba diving, woodworking, playing music, podcasting, fishing, or countless other hobbies, he gave his whole heart to whatever he was doing. He truly was a “Jack of all trades,” and his laughter and love for life were contagious.

But more than anything, Loy’s greatest passion was serving the Lord. He had a deep love for the Sulphur Ridge Church of Christ and was proud to share God’s word through the Common Sense Bible podcast. His legacy lives on not just in the many talents he shared, but in the lives he touched through his faith, kindness, and dedication to spreading the gospel.

Loy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rayna Milam; children, Shellie Milam, John Milam, Andrea Starnes, and husband, Andrew, of Tompkinsville, KY, Emily Stinson and husband, Danny Joe, of Tompkinsville, KY, Amy Adams, and husband, Jared of Mt. Juliet, TN; eleven grandchildren, Austin Graves, Sydney Huff (Carleton), Mackenzie Graves (Zachary), Hayden Graves (Caroline), Brynley Starnes, Olivia Stinson, Gradey Starnes, Raelyn Stinson (Wesley), Reese Adams, Pyper Adams and Harper Adams; great grandchildren, Levi, Saylor, Jaxden, Wrenleigh, Lennyn and four step great grandchildren, Wyatt, Jake, Garrett and Emory.

Also surviving is a brother, Clarence Milam, and wife Carol, of Texas; brothers in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary Hammer (Debbie), Patty Proffitt (Jack), Jerry Hammer (Deb), Jackie Hammer, Joe Hammer (Sebrena), David Hammer, Karen Smith and Brenda Gettings, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Loy Edgar Milam, mother and step-father, Alphina Jo and Donald Vaughn; a son, James Richard Milam; brother-in-law, Ronnie Hammer; sister-in-law; Becky Turner, and husband, Mike, and in-laws, Virgil and Louise Hammer.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY, with burial to follow at Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, 4-8 p.m., and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
