A man is facing first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief charges after he overturned several vehicles at a business in Cave City on the afternoon of Aug. 23.
Seventy-six-year-old Roy Spiker was at Treasure Trove Park in Cave City gathering some of his belongings after an “ongoing civil dispute” over the park when he “snapped,” Cave City Police Chief Paul Reynolds said, and used a park skid steer to flip over several vehicles — Reynolds believed it was four that were owned by park members, including owner Michael Barrick’s vehicle.
Spiker then allegedly began driving the skid steer towards a house on the property. The person in the house fired a weapon at the skid steer believing Spiker was going to “drive through the building,” Reynolds said. No shots hit Spiker, Reynolds said, but some of the glass cut him. No other injuries were reported, Reynolds said.
Reynolds said the investigation is ongoing.
Spiker was arrested by Cave City police and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. His initial court appearance is set for Aug. 25 at 12:30 p.m.
