On Wednesday, Aug. 27, a portion of Glasgow’s downtown square will be closed in the afternoon due to the community pep rally.

The north side of the square — the side with the county clerk’s office — will close at 4 p.m., according to the Glasgow Police Department, and will “remain closed until the event has [finished] and [is] cleaned up.”

“Please use caution if you must travel in this area,” a department press release stated.

The community pep rally is ahead of Glasgow and Barren County football teams facing one another on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. at Glasgow High School. All students and fans are invited to attend the rally, which will include inflatables, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, both schools’ cheer teams and a mechanical bull.

The pep rally will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This is the third year of the pep rally.

Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd encourages those in attendance to wear jersey, or similar spirit wear.
