Glasgow topped Barren County 22-8 on Friday night to improve to 2-0 on the young season. The Trojans fall to 1-1 with the loss.

The Scotties scored on their first drive of the game after converting two fourth downs. The first conversion came when Cam Bulle picked up a fumbled punt snap and scrambled 30 yards for a first down. Later in the drive, Hudson Gumm connected with Jeremiah Moore on fourth and 17. That set the ball at the four-yard line, from where Jaylen Bradley scored one play later. Jared Malagon added the extra point and Glasgow led 7-0 with 6:01 left in the first period.

The Trojans had a good chance to score before halftime, but came up a yard short. They drove to the Glasgow two-yard line with under 12 seconds to play. They ran the ball, but Glasgow’s defense held and the halftime horn sounded.

Barren County took the second-half kick off and marched the ball downfield to a touchdown. Jaxson Byrd rushed 10 yards for the score with 7:29 left in the third quarter. Briggs Harris ran in the two-point conversion to put the Trojans ahead 8-7.

Glasgow took the lead for good with 2:25 left in the third frame. Cam Bulle ripped off a 53-yard touchdown run. Hudson Gumm ran in the two-point conversion to give the Scotties a 15-8 lead.

Glasgow’s final touchdown came midway through the fourth quarter on a 21-yard run by Bradley. Malagon nailed the extra point to set the final 22-8 score.

Barren did drive late in the game to the Scotties’ 11-yard line, but the scoring threat was stopped when Keavian Massey recovered a fumble for Glasgow.

The Scotties ran the ball 31 times for 221 yards.

Bulle led with 104 yards on eight carries and a touchdown. Bradley rushed 13 times for 91 yards and two scores. Gumm carried the ball eight times for 24 yards.

The Trojans ran the ball 28 times for 70 yards. Daylan Thomas led with 28 yards on 10 carries, while Byrd rushed one time for 10 yards and the touchdown.
