Tyler Richardson has been named as the principal of the Barren County Schools College Street Campus, the district’s alternative school serving 6-12 grade students, located between South Morgan and South Lewis streets in Glasgow.

Most recently, Richardson served as the director of student services with the Caverna Independent School District, “where he coordinated attendance, transportation, safety, and district-wide emergency management,” according to a Barren County Schools press release. For three years — 2020 to 2023 — he was the principal at Caverna Elementary School and before that he was a teacher and baseball coach at Barren County Middle School during the 2013-14 school year and again from 2018-2020.

Richardson earned a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education from Brescia University and his Masters of Science from the University of the Cumberlands, where he also obtained his credentials as a principal and director of pupil personnel, the press release states.

“I’m honored to return to Barren County and serve the students and families of College Street Campus,” Richardson said. “Our team will focus on high expectations, meaningful relationships, and clear pathways so every student leaves CSC confident, capable, and ready for what’s next.”

Superintendent Amy Irwin said Richardson’s “student-centered leadership and hands-on experience in student services” makes him an excellent choice and positions him “to do great work” at the alternative school.

Richardson takes over the role from Anthony Janes, who was named the new director of pupil personnel in August.
