A Glasgow man has been arrested after allegedly killing a woman in Park City, according to Kentucky State Police Post 3 Public Information Office Katan Parker.
The state police were called by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office at 9:55 p.m. on Sept. 4, Parker said. Once at the Park City residence on East Third Street, officers found a deceased woman “with an apparent gunshot wound,” according to a uniform citation. The woman has been identified as 35-year-old Brittney Harper of Park City, Deputy Coroner Marcus Thurman said. The next of kin have been notified, he said.
Thirty-nine-year-old Thomas Joseph Orlando of Glasgow had left the scene in an SUV prior to the arrival of law enforcement officers. He was found “after a short time” at the Union No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Eighty Eight “in possession of a firearm consistent with the one used in the shooting incident,” the uniform citation stated.
Orlando is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center without a bond on charges of a domestic violence murder and first-degree wanton endangerment (discharge of a firearm). His initial court date is set for Sept. 11 at 12:30.
There were two juveniles in the residence at the time of the shooting, according to the citation.
The investigation is ongoing and will be led by Trooper Jonathan Carlock.
Updated with information from his uniform citation obtained from the Barren County Courthouse.
