Additional details on the U.S. 31-E business roadwork were provided by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

As reported earlier this week, U.S. Route 31-E business — also known as South Green and North Race streets in Glasgow — was included in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3’s traffic impact report.

The district released additional details on Sept. 23, stating the milling will be from U.S. 31-E, down South Green Street and end at East Washington Street and will take “several nights to complete.” East Washington is the one-way street that runs beside the Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Communications Center.

“Once milling is complete, crews will fully resurface the roadway along with new striping,” a district press release states. “The entire project is expected to take about two weeks to complete.”

“There is rain in the forecast so the schedule may change,” the press release states.

The district urges drivers to use extra caution and slower speeds during the milling phase of the project as they will “be driving on rough surface with loose gravel.”

Original reporting on the full traffic impact report is below.

An additional state road within Barren County has been added to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3’s traffic impact report.

On Sept. 15, the district released its weekly traffic impact report stating lane closures should be expected on Ky. 839 and Ky. 2131 due to “base failure repairs” that needed to be done “in preparation for resurfacing in these sections.” Those two roads remain on the impact report for this week.

Also on the list is U.S. 31-E business, which offshoots from the Bypass at South Green Street, runs the length of North Race Street, and reconnects to U.S. 31-E near North Jackson Elementary School. Milling and paving work is expected in the first 1.4 miles of the business route, according to the impact report.

“The work is being done at night,” the report states. “Motorists should expect lane closures.”
