Glasgow Middle School art teacher Jennifer Fritsch is one of three educators to be added to the Louis B. Nunn Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame.

Fritsch is in her 23rd year of teaching and she told Glasgow News 1 on Monday morning that she truly enjoys helping her students find their voices and reach their full potential.

“I love seeing the kids realize that they are better artists than they thought they were,” Fritsch said. “When the kids light up and realize that they can do something that they thought they never could do — that like just makes me smile.”

Fritsch said she tries to instill in her students that they are unique.

“I tell them that every single one of them are different artists,” she said. “No two are alike. No two have the same abilities.

“I think that kind of helps them let loose, which makes me enjoy it more because then I get to see what they really can create.”

Glasgow Middle Principal Justin Stinson told Glasgow News 1 on Monday morning that Fritsch builds positive relationships with her students.

“First thing for her is the fact that she loves kids,” Stinson said of Fritsch. “I think that’s the hallmark of any great teacher.

“She continues to build relationships with her kids long after they leave GMS, and the things that she’s able to do with those kids and those art students, I’d actually put that up against most high schools across the state.”

Kentucky educators are chosen for this honor by a statewide committee following an application process, according to a WKU press release.

Fritsch will be honored at a formal hall of fame ceremony on Friday, Nov. 7, at Western Kentucky University.
