A juvenile was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 65 on Thursday, Sept. 25.

Just after 11 a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 received a call about a possible fatal collision, according to a press release from the state police. Troopers arrived at the scene at the 65.8 mile marker on Interstate 65.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica with a juvenile driver was traveling north on Interstate 65. The Chrysler collided with the rear end of a stopped 2023 Kenworth commercial vehicle operated by 59-year-old Jose Martinez-Monsivais. “The driver of the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hart County Coroner,” according to the press release.

The investigation is ongoing and will be led by Detective Bo Hubbard. He was assisted at the scene by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Hart County EMS, Hart County Coroner, Munfordville Fire Department and other KSP personnel.

Northbound traffic on the interstate was stopped Thursday morning after a crash near mile marker 74. A tractor-trailer overturned and blocked all lanes between Bonnieville in northern Hart County and Upton in southern LaRue County, according to a press release from Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4.
