The bridge over Skaggs Creek on Matthews Mill Road will be closed for maintenance for roughly a month and a half.
Matthews Mill Road is south of Glasgow and intersects Scottsville Road and Tobacco Road — where it changes names to Peter Creek Road. The bridge that crosses Skaggs Creek will be closed for 45 days beginning on Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. The closure is necessary “for bridge maintenance, resurfacing, and painting,” according to Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management.
During the Aug. 5 Barren County Fiscal Court meeting, Intech Contracting was awarded the bid to conduct the maintenance for $477,075. The funds for this bridge work are coming from the $439,316 in bridge preservation monies the county received from the state.
