A Glasgow man was injured Friday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a tractor near the Barren and Metcalfe county line.

Jacob Basham, 22, of Glasgow, was injured after a collision involving the motorcycle he was driving and a piece of farm equipment, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office collision report.

The crash was initially dispatched to the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office, but it was determined the scene was actually in Barren County.

Deputy Tyler Maxey wrote in the report narrative that when he arrived, Basham had already been take by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to a landing zone to be flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

“I observed a large piece of farm equipment pulling a large manure spreader parked in a driveway with a motorcycle resting on its side and the fairings along with several other pieces of the bike broken off in the same driveway,” Maxey wrote. “The motorcycle was approximately 20 [feet] from the front of the tractor and there was blood pooled in from of the spreaders back tire along with a motorcycle helmet.”

Chis J. Shaw, 43, was driving the farm equipment and told Maxey he was turning left into the driveway and felt a bump. He saw the motorcycle fly in front of him. He said he immediately stopped and he saw the motorcycle driver on the ground in front of the tires of the spreader.

Maxey was not able to interview Basham at the scene since he had already been flown to Nashville. “I attempted to contact him while he was being treated at Skyline a couple of days after the collision, however his mother informed me that he has no memory of the collision.”
