District Counseling Services Coordinator Chele Gillion with Barren County Schools has been named the 2025 Counselor Advocate of the Year by the Kentucky School Counseling Association.
“Chele’s dedication to the well-being of students and the professional growth of counselors is unmatched,” said Superintendent Amy Irwin in a district press release. “This honor is a reflection of her tireless advocacy and her genuine care for others.”
Gillion was surprised with the award during the annual Kentucky School Counseling Association Conference, according to the press release. The conference was held on Sept. 10-12 in Lexington.
The conference tribute described Gillion as someone who “has done it all and done it all well,” highlighting her compassion, collaboration, and advocacy, the press release stated,
