Three people are dead after a fatal collision late Friday night at the intersection of Veterans Outer Loop and North Jackson Highway.
A preliminary investigation states that a 2016 Nissan Altima being operated by 18-year-old Asa Howard of Edmonton, Ky. was traveling northbound on North Jackson Highway and was traveling through the intersection with Veterans Outer Loop when the vehicle collided with a 2017 Toyota Highlander driven by Timothy Houchens of Glasgow. Houchens was driving eastbound on Veterans Outer Loop, according to a Glasgow Police Department press release.
Howard and Caden French, who was a passenger in Howard’s car, were taken by Barren-Metcalfe EMS to T.J. Samson Community Hospital and flown out for their injuries, the press release stated. Another passenger in Howard’s vehicle, 21-year-old Jabari Sweat, of Glasgow, was taken to the hospital and later released.
Eighteen-year-old Emily Corbin from Hart County, a 14-year-old juvenile from Bowling Green and a 17-year-old juvenile from Edmonton were pronounced deceased, according to the press release. All three were passengers in Howard’s vehicle.
Houchens was transported by a personal vehicle to the hospital and Stephen Estes, his passenger, was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital by Hart County EMS.
The preliminary investigation was conducted by Officer John Dubarry, assisted by the Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management, Hart County EMS, Glasgow Fire Department, Barren County Sheriff’s Office, and Kentucky State Police.
The crash is still under investigation by the Glasgow Police Reconstruction Unit.
