Glasgow Police Chief Guy Howie released a public statement regarding the two-vehicle collision that killed three people and injured five others at the intersection of the Veterans Outer Loop and North Jackson Highway.

In his statement, Howie thanks “the men and women who responded that night placed yourselves in a difficult and emotional situation to serve and protect [the] community.”

“I pray that none of you ever have to face a tragedy of this magnitude again in your careers,” Howie said in his statement. “We know that each of you holds the families and survivors of this incident in your thoughts and prayers, just as we do. ”

Eleven agencies responded to the fatal collision on Oct. 17, according to Howie, including the Glasgow Police Department, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, the Cave City Police Department, the Kentucky State Police, Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Hart County EMS, the Glasgow Fire Department, Barren-Metcalfe 911 center, the Barren County Coroner, Barren County Emergency Management and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The Glasgow Police Department is the lead agency in the investigation, Howie said.
