As Spidermen, Wednesdays, Elphabas, and the traditional princesses and ghosts go from door to door getting sweet treats, Glasgow police are reminding trick-or-treaters as well as drivers to exercise caution Halloween night.

Glasgow Police Department Public Information Officer Terry Flatt said South Green Street — from the Square to the Bypass — is usually the busiest trick-or-treating spot in town, however he reminded everyone, regardless of location, to use caution.

“South Green Street is one of the busiest [sections] we have in town…the last couple of years we’ve had to close sections of that street down due to safety concerns and pedestrian traffic,” Flatt said. “We just ask that if you’re going trick-or-treating…that the kids, or whoever’s doing the trick-or-treating, to have on a costume that’s very visible, have a flashlight handy and go in groups.”

“We will also have out extra units to assist with traffic,” he added.

For drivers, Flatt encouraged them to be patient.

“If you are going to be out in those areas we just ask that you allow for extra time and be extra careful and watch out for people crossing the roads,” Flatt said.

The city of Glasgow’s official trick-or-treat time is on Oct. 31 from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
