Barren fiscal court to accept more bridge money, seek bids for agriculture cold storage

Additional bridge money is coming to Barren County.

The Barren County magistrates are scheduled to meet on Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. to, among other things, approve a resolution and memorandum of agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet that has the cabinet agreeing to provide an additional $175,000 in state reimbursable funds for work done on the Siddens Road bridge, the agreement, provided by the Barren County Fiscal Court Clerk Shanda Bradley, stated.

This supplemental agreement brings the total state reimbursable funds to $926,319, the supplement stated. In March, the fiscal court received $751,319 from the transportation cabinet for bridge preservation efforts. Governor Andy Beshear announced that the county was awarded this extra funding in October.

On the agenda, the magistrates are also set to ratify seeking bids for the newly formed Barren River Agriculture County Coalition produce and perishable cold storage.

  • Approve Invoice from Botts Construction for $5,809.00
  • Approve Invoice from Wilkinson Heating and Cooling for $6,500.00
  • Approve Invoice from Community Relief Fund for $8,750.00

The next Barren County Fiscal Court meeting is scheduled for Nov. 18.
