Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear mentioned Glasgow’s and Barren County’s economic achievements during his State of the Commonwealth address on Jan. 7.
Speaking on the aspects of the American Dream, Beshear went through a litany of new jobs and investments that took place across the commonwealth in 2025 — mentioning Ford Motors electric vehicle investment in Louisville and the 163 jobs created by Toyota and SteelBlue in Scott County. He also mentioned Tate as part of the list.
“In Glasgow we celebrated some great news when we closed a deal in person, in Ireland, with Tate,” Beshear said. “This is the largest announcement for Barren County in 18 years [and] it has 400 new jobs.”
Tate was announced by the governor’s office in October 2025. The company will produce “high performing thermal management and airflow solutions engineered to optimize efficiency and reliability in the most demanding of data centers,” a governor’s office press release stated. In addition to the jobs, Tate plans to invest $61.2 million into Barren County.
In Nov. 2025, the company purchased the former Donnelley building.
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Barren County Economic Authority Maureen Carpenter attended the speech and was personally recognized by Beshear.
“Maureen thank you for all your hard work,” Beshear said during the speech. “This is a huge win for your county and for our commonwealth.”
Carpenter said it was an honor to attend the speech and that she is “grateful to see our community’s hard work, innovation, and commitment to Kentucky’s future acknowledged on such an important stage.”
This was Beshear’s seventh State of the Commonwealth Address and was held at Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.
