Each of the 23 candidates randomly selected their ballot positions for the upcoming May 19 primary election.
The Glasgow City Council is a nonpartisan election, meaning candidates do not run for election based on their political affiliation. In 2026 there will be a primary since more than 18 people filed to compete over the nine available council seats.
As dictated by Kentucky Revised Statute, candidates for city council, along with numerous other county candidates, gathered into the Barren County Fiscal Court chamber at 2 p.m. on Jan. 15 to randomly select their ballot position.
The Glasgow City Council primary ballot is as follows:

Because the city council primary is nonpartisan all residents within the city limits will be able to cast their vote despite Kentucky’s closed primaries, according to Barren County Clerk Helena Chase Birdwell.
