A Glasgow man arrested after trying to steal an ATM was given three years of probation during his Barren County Circuit Court appearance on Feb. 9.
Derek T. Shaffer was arrested by Glasgow police in July 2025 when officers used Flock Safety cameras to identify the vehicle used in the attempted burglary of the Daily Stop Store off Columbia Avenue, according to prior reporting.
Barren County Circuit Court Judge John Alexander sentenced him to three years for third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and the amended criminal mischief misdemeanor charge, which is because Shaffer paid restitution to the victim in this case prior to sentencing, Commonwealth’s Attorney John Gardner explained. Shaffer’s sentence was probated for three years.
Gardner said the victim in this case did not oppose probation.
Shaffer was sentenced during the circuit court proceeding at 1 p.m.
