The Glasgow Fire Department hosted a traditional “push-in” ceremony on Feb. 11 to introduce its newest ladder truck.

Fire Chief Lucas Tinsley told Glasgow News 1 that the ceremony dates back to the days of hand-drawn or horse-drawn fire engines that had to be physically pushed into the station.

The event at Fire Station #2 on Cross Street in downtown Glasgow drew a large crowd, including past and present firefighters, local officials, and community members.

Tinsley emphasized the significance of the new truck. He said it has a 100-foot custom ladder apparatus, and that these trucks are typically used for 20 years.

“It is to date the longest aerial apparatus that we have,” Tinsley said. “We’ll be able to easily reach any [roofs] that we need to and it has a platform for us to work on.”

The new fire truck cost approximately $2 million and was ordered three years ago

The department plans to keep the previous ladder truck as a reserve unit, enhancing operational capacity.

Key Facts:
– The new ladder truck costs around $2 million.
– It features a 100-foot ladder and a 300-gallon water tank.
