STAFF REPORT
Glasgow News 1
Saputo Cheese USA is recalling several Great Value cottage cheese products sold at Walmart stores, including locations in Kentucky, because of a problem with pasteurization.
The company announced it is voluntarily pulling the items after discovering some liquid dairy ingredients used in the products may not have been fully pasteurized according to state regulatory standards, a Food and Drug Administration press release states. The recall affects multiple Great Value small curd cottage cheese varieties sold in white plastic tubs with white lids. All of the products were distributed to Walmart stores and distribution centers in Kentucky and 22 other states between Feb. 17 and Feb. 20, 2026.

Saputo said no illnesses or hospitalizations linked to the recalled cottage cheese have been reported. However, officials warn that consuming products that are not fully pasteurized can pose a significant health risk, especially for young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
According to the company, the issue was discovered during pasteurizer troubleshooting conducted by Saputo in conjunction with the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The impacted pasteurizer has since been returned to normal function and was verified and sealed by California regulators.
Saputo is advising customers who purchased any of the affected products not to consume them. Shoppers can either discard the cottage cheese or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Saputo said no other products made at the facility were affected.
