The Caverna Independent Schools Board of Education will have two meetings Thursday afternoon, including a special-called working session followed by its regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
Board members will first gather at 4 p.m. at the Caverna Central Office for a special called meeting focused on district finances. According to the agenda, the session will include a working discussion to review the district’s finances, working budget and needs assessments before adjournment.
Later in the evening, the board will reconvene at 5 p.m. for its regular monthly meeting at the same location.
During that meeting, the board will hear several superintendent reports, including student and staff recognitions, school or department presentations and a personnel report.
The board will also consider several consent agenda items, including approval of minutes from the Feb. 12 meeting, orders of the treasurer, financial reports for activity funds and food service, bus inspections, travel requests and grant-related items. Approval of school-wide fundraisers and field trips is also listed.
Among the action items, the board is scheduled to consider approving an assistant principal position at Caverna Elementary School that would include 10 extended days and a $3,000 stipend under the district’s assistant principal job description.
Board members will also consider approving an additional 180-day instructional assistant position for the MSD classroom at Caverna Elementary School.
Other items on the agenda include approval of the purchase of a new school bus, acceptance of a $4,492 offer from the Kentucky Education Technology System (KETS), and renewal of a Roberts Insurance quote with AIG for student accident insurance.
